Vacation Memories

Taking pictures is easy. Everyone does it. What not everyone can do, though, is capture the spirit of a child's personality. I've thought about this many times as I look through our (mostly digital) photos of summers spent at the beach. Sure, we take tons of pictures, and yes, lots go into photo albums or on the fridge to remember a great trip with cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. But there are rarely any pictures that I would want to have blown up and framed, as a keepsake, to hang in our hallway. Which is sad, because some of my fondest childhood memories are from family beach trips when I was growing up. I want to immportalize our kids when they're at their best - relaxed, having fun and (dare I say it) with a tan! This is better left to the professionals. But at the beach? Come on!
