Deceptive and Delicious!

Jessica Seinfeld is a genius. She has created a wonderfullly sneaky way to get her kids to eat their vegetables - and ask for more! With her new book,
Deceptively Delicious: Simple Secrets to Get Your Kids Eating Good Food, Jessica shares her tried and true tips and tricks so other mamas can get in on the secret too.

A few years back, Jessica had an aha! moment while pureeing squash for her baby. She decided to sneak some into the dish the rest of the family was eating. No one even noticed. She smiled to herself, knowing she was on to something. After many attempts, some successful while others not so much, Jessica decided to share her knowledge with other mamas so that we can all stop our nightly chants of "Eat your vegetables" at the dinner table.

When I received a copy of Deceptively Delicious to review, I pounced on it, wanting to absorb its contents through osmosis. When that didn't work, I read it at every opportunity. I was ready to introduce this sneaky, yet healthy, way of cooking to my own family. So I spent an evening making a few vegetable purees (the secret ingredient), and a day or so later was ready to strike with a deceptive dish. I made my mom's Baked Ziti and hid some carrot puree inside. It was VERY well received by the entire family, including my 11 month old son. My daughter exclaimed that I needed to make that dish more often. Hmmm... I think we're on to something. So I stocked up on ingredients and made Jessica's Carrot Cake recipe (I used whole wheat pastry flour), complete with cream cheese frosting. This was yummy! So healthy, in fact, that I let my daughter eat it for breakfast. No more nagging at the breakfast table, either:)

In a nutshell, I highly recommend this book. It's great for busy moms, and anyone else who wants quick meals and would like to boost the nutritional value of what they eat. Whether you're crazy about veggies or not, there's something to be learned from Deceptively Delicious: Simple Secrets to Get Your Kids Eating Good Food. The recipes are straightforward, nothing too fussy, and everything is kid-friendly. With Jessica's tips, you'll be on your way to pureeing in no time flat, and your family will be none the wiser. They'll just know how good their dinner is. This book is available for pre-order currently, and will be released October 5th.

Once you get the hang of it, log on to Deceptively Delicious.com for more recipes and to share your own. You'll never cook the same way again!

Well I not sure I would say genius however, being a parent of 13 years and wisdom from the grandparents I found that it's no secret parents have been using this idea for years to get their little ones the proper nutrition. BTW, our family purchased a simular book a few months back titled "the Sneaky Chef" which we found to be useful and entertaining. Now, if we could just find more time to cook...Good luck with the new book Jessica!

yes she is a genius. Good for you for already knowing this, but there are a lot of young mothers like myself who didn't and if everybody was already aware of how to cook we wouldn't have such a bad childhood obesity problem. So to you if you don't have anything positive to say don't say anything at all. Good luck Jessica and thank you so much for helping me and all my friends around me. I am gonna have a puree party.
