Go Green for Halloween

With Halloween on it's way, most of us are bound to be stocking up and stashing away a few bags of candy here and there (we need a treat now and then, too!). This year, when you buy chocolate, stop and think about where it comes from. Sadly, many children are forced into labor on cocoa farms, and farmers are often not paid a living wage for harvesting cocoa. This is where fair trade can really make a difference. When products that you purchase are labeled as fair trade, it means that the products are raised and produced ethically, and the farmers are paid a fair price that will support their familiies.

We found some great fair trade candy out there that's just perfect for trick-or-treaters. Grab a few bags of Dark Chocolate Halloween Treats from Endangered Species. Each bag includes 24 individually wrapped squares (in brown and orange) of delicious milk chocolate, and 10% of profits go to support species, habitat and humanity. Plus, they are free of hydrogentated-fats, pesticides and growth-hormones.

Feeling a bit like a pirate, eh, matey? Then try these Fair Trade Gold Coins. The little pirates in your neighborhood never had it so good!

So this year, give out something that's going to give back. The kids may not know the difference, but you can feel good knowing you're making one!
