Put The Spark Back in Your Love Life
It seems to happen to the best of us. You meet someone you're crazy about, and the sex is hot!! The relationship begins to grow in other ways, but the sex is still great. You get married. The sex is still good. But add kids to the mix, and many parents are left saying, "Sex? What sex?"

Ian Kerner, Ph. D., is here to help. With his new book, Sex Detox: Recharge Desire. Revitalize Intimacy. Rejuvenate Your Love Life., Dr. Kerner has created a detox plan, much like a fast for your body, that promises to inject your relationship with sparks again. The premise is that, when sex is taken out of the picture, you begin to REALLY think about it again, and REALLY want it. Parents begin to notice their partners as attractive, sexual beings, not just their partner in raising kids. But it's not all about the sex. Dr. Kerner has outlined a 30-day plan. It begins with swearing off sex for those 30 days, but a bigger part of it is examining yourself and issues you may have. He gets us thinking about everything from what we put into our bodies and how we treat ourselves, to how we feel about our partner, how comfortable we are with him/her and whether or not we are in a positive relationship. Sex Detox: Recharge Desire. Revitalize Intimacy. Rejuvenate Your Love Life. is comprised of six modules, each with a different focus; Starting Up, Your Dating Health and Outlook, Influence and Influencers, How You date, what Do You Want In A Partner? and Ready, Steady, Go! Each addresses a different aspect of our lives, and in turn, a factor that affects how we handle relationships and sex. Dr. Kerner has created a "diet plan" with "menu suggestions" each day, including reading, taking quizzes (don't cheat!) and with instructions to do things such as "get out there and enjoy some ME time".

The idea of relinquishing sex intentionally for 30 days may or may not appeal to you, but I highly recommend reading Sex Detox anyway. There are some thoughtful questions that will provoke a response, and get you thinking about your relationship in a new way. Sometimes, as a busy parent, just thinking about sex is all we need to get us back in the groove. And with a little help, you can get your groove back in time for Valentine's Day!
