Going for a spa pedicure is something I regularly treat myself to. I mean, with all the walking, carrying of kids and exercising that I do, my feet just need to be de-calloused and pampered by a professional on a regular basis. But manicures? I (almost) always shy away from indulging in one. While I deem pedicures a necessity, a manicure just doesn't seem worth it to me. Plus, I don't have all the time in the world to sit and wait while my nails dry - what if I get an important phone call and have to fish for my phone? What if my nose itches? What if...
While I don't treat myself to regular manicures at the salon, I have discovered that I can have great looking nails by doing them myself at home. It's quick and easy, and if the polish chips after two days (as it always seems to do on me) then it's no biggie. I can just do them again without dropping another $15 - $25.
One of my favorite quick and easy looks has been to match my nail polish to my skin color. Revlon Nail Enamel in Sheer Rose is a great shade for me. It's like my skintone, but with a hint of pink to it, so it gives a very natural and elegant look to my hands - even when my nails are super short. Revlon Nail Enamel offers wonderful coverage and seems to dry quickly (is it just me?), even with two coats. I top it off with a quick coat of Sally Hansen Hard As Nails topcoat for a long-lasting finish. What's great is that I can do this at home after the kids go to bed, and each of these costs less than $5!
