I hope you all had a wonderful Halloween! We hosted our neighborhood gathering prior to Trick or Treating, and I couldn't resist making these "buried alive" cupcakes from Claire Crespo that were featured in this month's Cookie Magazine. To make, I started with Devil's Food cupcakes (what else?) and iced with chocolate frosting. Then I topped them off with cookie crumbs (I used chocolate Cat Cookies from Trader Joe's) to make the "dirt". The doll hands came with heads, so I used those amid our centerpiece of mixed gourds and squash for a fun effect.
Aside from eating so much candy that my daughter almost threw up, we had a great Halloween this year. My son (who just turned 2) grasped the concept of "trick or treat" and loved it! He wasn't too happy when we took his pumpkin filled with candy away at the end of the night, though! I hope you all had a happy and safe Halloween.
