Donate Shoes, Get Something in Return

The 50,000 Pairs in 50 Days Challenge

As the end of the year draws near, many of us are cleaning out our closets and organizing our homes to prepare for houseguests and to get the new year started off right. As you sift through your closets, you'll probably find at least one pair of shoes that you haven't worn lately, and aren't serving you well.

Celebrity stylist, Rachel Zoe, offers a few suggestions for things that are no-brainers to toss:

1/ If it screams last season – “Get rid of super-super trendy.”
2/ What you don’t wear – “If you’ve never worn it, get rid of it.”
3/ Shoes that don’t fit – “You’ve got to move on. Let go.”

However, a couple of items she suggests you hang on to are:
1/ Cowboy boots – “They come and go. A classic will show its face again.”
2/ Square toes – “If it’s iconic, like a square toe, keep it. Who knows? It could be back in a year.”

Once you determine what shoes you can part with, why not donate them to
Soles4Souls? It's a great way to clean your closet and help someone in need at the same time. You never know, you just might make someone's day with last year's pair of boots or those pink suede mules you never found yourself wearing.

Piperlime is aiding in the collection for Soles4Souls and is offering an incentive. They'll give you a $15 gift certificate towards the purchase of a new pair of shoes just for donating. So take a peek at Piperlime for the deets and find out how you can help someone while helping your own wardrobe at the same time. That's double the pleasure!
