Get Kissable Lips

'Tis the season for mistletoe and holly, and perhaps a few stolen kisses while the kids are otherwise occupied with all the festivities. But the cooler weather and dry heat make for cracked and chapped lips, which can be uncomfortable not to mention, not very kissable. Keep your picker soft and smooth - and ready for some smooches with these easy steps:

1/ Prime Your Pucker - prep your lips with Sugar Kisses ($14) peppermint lip scrub from Bella il Fiore. Gently rub it in, wipe it off and get ready to boast your boldest lip color of the season.

2/ Outline Your Strategy - Start with a lipliner that's close to the shade of lipstick you're using and draw your outline. If you have thin lips, you may want to draw them a little bigger to add fullness. If you're lips are very full, you can minimize them by drawing inside your natural lipline.

3/ The Right Shade - Choosing the right lipcolor can seem daunting. If you want something in the red family, go for a pretty tomato red with orange undertones if your coloring is warm. For cooler skintones, opt for a deep burgundy, or a bright shade of fire-engine red. Keep in mind that deep lipcolors will enhance wrinkles around your mouth area, so if you have more than a few, I recommend you opt for a nude or mid-range shade.

4/ The Finishing Touch - Put the final touch on your lips with Zoya's Hot Lips lip gloss. You'll love this sweet layer of gloss that adds shimmer and shine to make your lips ready for kissing!

Win It
We want to help you get soft, pretty lips in time for the holidays, so we're giving away one pot of Sugar Kisses lip scrub and a 3-pack of Zoya's Hot Lips lip gloss in pretty, festive shades. Just leave us a comment and tell us your best beauty tip for getting great lips. Don't forget your email address. Deadline is Midnight, EST, December 9.

Light exfoliate your lips with a toothbrush (not the one you use for brushing, obviously, lol) and some vaseline. Scrub them in a soft circular motion. Then rinse your lips off. It really does a great job of making them smooth.

Thanks!

My best tips for lips is to exfoliate with a little sugar and a soft toothbrush. It rids the dry flakes making your lips smooth and once again kissable.

offthemap13 said...

When you run out of exfoliator, a really good one you can make is simply with sugar and water, mixed until they are to a consistency similar to your scrub. Works great! Just be sure to follow with your moisturizer.

I exfoliate my kisser with sugar and a toothbrush(like a couple of other people mentioned), and then I apply an olive oil/vaseline mixture to make my lips nice and soft. If I'm going out to run errands or whatnot I will add a little lipstick or stain to my lips along with the olive oil/vaseline mixture, just to give them a little color.

Always use a non-flavored, non-scented basic balm first on your lips before adding color or shine to your lips. It will seal in moisture and hold color. Thank you for the contest!

It seems pretty basic but moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. A good lip balm is essential for me. I have 2 or 3 lip balms floating around my house and purse, just to be sure its there when I feel my lips get even the slightest bit dry. Also a nice lip scrub is always a great feeling.
