Express Your Child's Personality Through Shoes

For me, one of the true pleasures of having kids is dressing them. Aside from the snuggles, the constant stream of creative artwork and gaining a whole new perspective on the world, shopping for - and dressing - my kids has brought me much joy. But as they get older and develop their own personalities, I try to dress them as they like to be dressed and help them develop a personal style expression all their own.

Take shoes. Shoes are a wonderful example of where people can express who they really are. Don't you have some in your closet that make you feel, well, more you? I have a new pair of snakeskin pumps that make me feel like I can conquer the world! Kids deserve the same type of gratification from their footwear, don't they? After all, each day is full of sharing and other hard stuff. Can't they at least have fun with what they wear?

Is your daughter a budding fashionista? These Cameron Sky's from See Kai Run ($38) are right on trend with their buttery soft teal green leather and handcrafted yellow flowers. Her feet will appreciate the flexible rubber sole when she's on the runway, er, playground with friends.

Is your daughter a girly girl? Let her express herself with the Sofia ($40), in a trendy tone of pink. A generous toe box gives lots of wiggle room and white accents add a nice touch. A chic take on a classic!

If your son is the strong, silent type he might appreciate the quiet elegance of the Ocean closed-toe sandal ($38). Both practical and fashionable, these olive-green and navy sandals speak louder than words.

The Spencer ($40) offers a fresh take with its bold navy and white styling. Make with breathable soles and lining, can't you just picture these with a seersucker suit for Easter?

Win It
We're giving one winner the chance to help their child express his or her personality with a pair of shoes from See Kai Run. To enter, leave us a comment and tell us what your child's personality is and what style shoe you think suits them. Don't forget your email address. Deadline is Midnight, EST March 28, 2009.

My 1-year-old God-nephew is quiet most of the time, and when he laughs and smiles, it seems 10x cuter because of his usual silence~
I think the Carter shoes suit him because they're designed in a slight sophisticated way with colors that'll always get your attention.

My adorable four month old daughter's personality is emerging on a daily basis and it is a joy to witness. So far, I would describe her as having an inquisitive nature as she loves to focus on the world around her. She is quick to smile and giggles over the antics of her older brothers, so perhaps she is going to be funny and carefree throughout life. On the other hand, she is also very stubborn (as I can attest to her refusal to accept a bottle or pacifier from anyone).

My littlest angel would look great in a pair of See Kai Run's buttersoft sheepskin leather Sara shoes! I would love to win these for her. Thank you!

Anyway, if there was a style of shoe that represents his personality, I'd have to say the Grayson or Jackson sandal because he's so open to people and the world around him.

My little one's personality is probably somewhere along the lines of "life of the party". She is a very loving child who has never met a stranger!!!! I think the Cameron Sky would suit her best! Thanks!

Kathy said...

Queen Super Baby is the youngest of four, and at eighteen months she is strong-willed and thinks she is as capable as her 5 and 7 year old siblings. She is independent and smart - a brilliant, funny little girl. We never wanted more than 2 kids, but I am so, so glad every day for this fourth child - from her first words being, "Get down!" to running around yelling "heiney! heiney!" she is a non-stop barrel of laughs for all of us. She is not as "girly" as her older sisters, but never wanted to wear the soft soled shoes I'd bought for her because she knew they were different than what they had. The "Stella" style would definitely be my choice for her - cute and sassy, tough enough to climb a tree like a kindergartner but pretty enough to be the star of the party!
