Back in the day soft drinks such as Pepsi and Mountain Dew were smooth, delicious - and sweetened with natural sugar. Fast forward several decades and the formula has be tweaked and the sweetener changed to high-fructose corn syrup. While change can be good, it doesn't always result in a more desirable outcome. Call me a purist, but I much prefer natural sugar to high-fructose corn syrup, so when I heard about Pepsi Throwback I was very excited.
Now available nationwide for a brief stint of only 8 weeks beginning April 20 (why do they tease us like this?) in 20-oz retro designed bottles and 12 oz. cans, Pepsi and Mountain Dew Throwback will leave you wistful for the good old days!

The lava lamp is something that used to be in my brother's bedroom and I would love to sit and watch it move..pepsi tasted better back then too.

How fun - the good ole days. I hate high fructose corn syrup so this sounds fantastic. A local Mexican restaurant has cane sugar cola from a competing brand - it was delicious.

What I like about this Throwback is that things are reverting back to the good old days, which I think is cool. Some things from the past should be kept around. I think Pepsi tasted better way back when, so I will enjoy the Throwback version. As far as the giveaway, the retro clock radio sounds very cool as does the tin lunch box. The whole "real sugar" thing is interesting, but I'm into retro style, so it's the old school designs that I like the best.
I prefer to treat myself and my family with real sugar. The other non-sugar "sugars" just seem really unhealthy to me.

I love any soda that uses sugar instead of HFCS, and Pepsi Throwback is no exception. It's up there with Red Bull cola and Passover Coke. I'd love to see Pepsi distribute it nationally, and keep it permanently on its lists.

What do I like about this throwback? My husband, who is the dearest soul in the entire world, is always pining for 'real' Pepsi. You know, without corn syrup. With sugar. I read about this last night and I ran out to buy it so I could surprise him with some. Boy was he happy. SO that is what I like about this throwback. I got to delight my husband. I love the radio. I graduated high school in 1973 so I remember those times well, including some of the best music that was ever recorded that is now called classic rock.
I'm not a huge soda fan, but I would definitely prefer sugar instead of hfcs and will probably check out the throwback version, these should be available all the time, I think people would even buy them if the price was a little higher than it is now with hfcs!
