Mother's Day Makeover

As a monthly columnist for the magazine, Carolina Parent, I offer beauty and style tips to help keep moms looking fabulous, much like I do right here on the blog! But I wanted to take it a step further and offer a real mom a real makeover. So back in February we ran a contest for moms in the Trangle area and had an onslaught of entries. Our winner was Janine C., a mom of 4 and a business executive for a pharmaceutical company. Janine felt that her busy schedule was taking a toll on her "inner fashionista" and needed some help pulling together an easy but chic look that would work during the week and then transition to weekends filled with birthday parties, hockey games and errands.

Janine was wonderful to work with. Ready for a new look, she was open to suggestions and very easygoing. We began with a Color Analysis to determine Janine's best colors. She received a palette with her 40 best hues so she knows what's right for her. I then did an Image Analysis on Janine, determining her face shape and body style. Her face shape is oval which is the most balanced and ideal shape. Janine's got a nice figure but I wanted to see her show off her waist a bit more. She was hiding it under big, baggy jackets and I explained how that can visually add pounds and make her look heavier. Her narrow waist is one of her best features and needs to be flaunted!

Once we knew what colors and styles we were looking for we went shopping. Scout and Molly's outfitted Janine with a casual and chic weekend look that included a lovely melon-colored scoop neck top and a pair of dark wash Joe's Jeans. We emphasized Janine's waist by cinching it with a wide belt and added a pair of nude colored peep-toe wedges to keep her comfy while looking stylish.

Next came a visit to Glam Lounge where Justin Dare gave Janine's hair a sleek and polished look. He added sun-kissed highlights and shaped her hair into an easy-to-maintain bob that's perfect for work or the weekend. Fiquet Bailey of Luxe Apothecary gave Janine a brow makeover explaining that brows frame the face. She treated her to a makeover using cosmetics from Becca and stocked her makeup bag with the essentials so she could duplicate the look at home.

As you can see in the after shot, Janine looks fabulous! She was a joy to work with and I am thrilled to have had the opportunity. Thanks to everyone who contributed to this great makeover!
